History of the International Language Institute

Picture

The owner of ILI, Prem Shastri and his wife, lived in north India for six years before establishing the Institute in 1996. They experienced the struggle of trying to learn Hindi without adequate facilities and modern methodology and saw others struggling with the same issues.

As a trained linguist (M.A., University of Texas at Arlington), Mr. Shastri was researching Hindi as he was learning the language himself. His studies led him to conclude that there were newer techniques available in linguistics that would make the process less frustrating. As he analyzed the structure
of Hindi, he discovered that systematic teaching and learning of Hindi were very possible.  This realization was  the foundation for the range of courses offered at ILI today.

ILI is known for its warm and personal atmosphere and for the unusual range of helps and services available to students as they settle and adjust to life here.
